Juneau - The Capital City

Hi Friends!

Let's continue today with our review of the Alaska Cruise we took in May 2022.  Sorry I made you wait a few days in between posts!

Our trip to Juneau was fantastic - the weather was MUCH better than Ketchikan and we were off for a whale watching adventure!

Excursion Name: All Inclusive Luxury Whale Watch by Yacht

Cruise Line: Princess Cruises
Excursion Port: Juneau, AK Date:  May 2022
Cost:  $359.95/Person Length:  4 Hours
Cruise Navigator Excursion Rating: A Itinerary: Picked up at the cruise ship port, 25 min bus ride to the boat dock, Whale watching for 3 – 4 hours, 25 min bus ride back to the cruise port
Pros: Cons:
LUXURY!
Unlimited Drinks & Fantastic Charcuterie Board Snacks
Small Group - only 1 other family with us, and plenty of room on the yacht!

Honestly, I can't think of anything bad about this excursion.  I knew I was going to have a great day once I saw that it was truly a yacht!  Check it out:

The drinks were freely flowing the entire time, we saw whales & seals, etc.  The naturalist on board was very informative and made sure that he answered all of our questions.  This was a true highlight of our cruise, and an excursion that I felt was truly worth every penny!

Once we were back in downtown Juneau, it was time to eat some Alaskan Crab!  We decided to be like most tourist and eat at Tracy's King Crab Shack ( https://kingcrabshack.com/pages/about ) The meal was wonderful!  We ordered the Crab Shack Combo and decided to indulge in Red King & Brown King (1 for each of us) Here's a picture of the meal:

We loved the food, and enjoyed every second of the fresh air and sunshine!  It is an investment to eat here, but no matter where you are Alaskan crab isn't cheap!

We walked around Juneau for a bit afterwards and explored the downtown shopping area.  I was amazed at the people who live at the top of these alley/stairways and have to lug all their stuff (think groceries, or even furniture) up these stairs to their house!

Alaskans are a tough group of people that's for sure!   I can't say enough great things about the Alaskan people in general.  So warm & welcoming!  I'm just glad I don't have to live on Decker way and haul my groceries up those stairs tonight!

We finished our day, boarded the ship and enjoyed a beautiful sail away from Juneau.

Skagway is next on our itinerary and it's a fun one as well!

Talk to you all again soon!
